Are You Making the Same Mistake As My 11 Month Old Son?

The other day I was sitting on the floor playing with my 11 month old son. I watched him as he snaked his tiny little hand to the bottom of his toy bin to grab his favorite rattle. As he started to pull the rattle up and out of the box it got stuck underneath the other toys that were sitting on top of it. His grip tightened on the rattle as he attempted to yank this rattle out of the bin with all his might. Each thrust he grew increasingly frustrated. After a few tense minutes, he eventually let go and I was able to move the other toys out of the way so he could easily take the rattle out of the bin.

As I sat next to Jackson witnessing him struggling, I couldn’t help but think about all the times we do this in our own lives. How often do we hold on to something we want sooo tightly that it actually prevents us from getting the exact thing that we want? In fact, it is often the tightening of our grip or attention on something that we want that actually prevents us from getting what we want. It seems counterintuitive, but when we are holding on so tightly to something what the Universe hears is “I don’t have this”. Holding on so tightly to something comes from a place of lack and so the Universe tends to give us more of what we don’t want. When we loosen our grip or attention on what we want, it gives space for us to receive what we want in creative ways, we begin to align with the infinite inside of us and it gives space for us to receive something even better than we imagined.

Here are six steps to move through this experience and really get what you want this year:

  1. Identify an area in your life where you really want to make something happen

  2. Focus on being grateful for what you already have. If you want more money, be grateful for every dollar that you already have.

  3. Spend time in silence. Meditation is one of the best ways to align yourself with the infinite potential and possibilities that already exist within you

  4. Take consistent baby steps toward your goal

  5. Be open to something even better!

  6. Trust that the Universe is conspiring with you and everything will happen in perfect timing

You got this! xx
